The Founder of Sera Jhe Dra Tsang

Kun khen Lodoe Richen Sanggye was all-known and also called Mue Se. He was the then fifth abbot of Sera. He born at La Toe and Tok Den Yonten Gonpo was his father. Kun khen Lodoe Richen Sanggye was one of two students who specially has distinct and bright student of Jhe Tsong Khapa. He was follower of highly realized Yonten Gonpo, from the beginning of his childhood he had been fascinated and interested to go central Tibet for study, but was not able for some time due to his father’s instruction of continuum tantric. One occasion his Father told him that the time had come to go central Tibet for study, he further ordered him to got ready and took hayagiwa and ritual instrument along with. In the central Tibet, he studied intensively under guidance of great teachers such as Jhe Tsong Khapa,Khedrup Jhe and Jam Yang Choe Jhe. He severed as a teacher at Drapung Zur Khang he was later requested to appoint abbot for Sera Thek chen Choeling it was accepted as requested, at Sera, students were given the comprehensive teaching on main text གཞུང་ཆེན་ for long by him, as a result his disciple Nyal Ton Paljor Lhundrup become sera’s Abbot. During his tenure the NeYu district governor Paljor Gyalpo and his wife Bhuti Palzom requested to Kun Khen Lodoe Rinchen Sanggye to build Dra Tsang for the disciples. accordingly, the new hall and quarters for disciples were constructed and its expenditures also sponsored by governor and his wife.That was how the Sera Jhepa Dratsang come to exist today.
